NORS 2026 ADDS DANGOTE REFINERY TOUR TO SHOWCASE NIGERIA’S REFINING TRANSFORMATION

....as Industry leaders ready to move from policy discussions at Eko Hotel to an on-site look at Africa’s largest single-train refinery.

.... Sets September 30 guided tour to spotlight refining capacity, technology, logistics, energy security and downstream opportunities

...NORS 2026 theme “Refining for Value” gains practical dimension as delegates visit Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

The Nigeria Oil Refining Summit (NORS) 2026 is set to extend its industry engagement beyond the conference room with an exclusive guided tour of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery on September 30, 2026, giving delegates an opportunity to observe one of Nigeria’s most significant downstream energy investments first-hand.

The guided refinery tour follows the two-day NORS 2026 summit scheduled for September 28–29 at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, under the theme “Refining for Value: Linking Upstream Supply to Downstream Demand.”

The addition of the Dangote Refinery visit is expected to provide delegates with a practical perspective on the issues at the heart of Nigeria’s refining and downstream petroleum transformation.

Rather than limiting discussions to policy, investment and market considerations, the tour will enable participants to gain direct exposure to the infrastructure, processing systems, logistics and industrial ecosystem supporting large-scale petroleum refining.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is located within the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos and is described by its operator as a world-scale refining and petrochemicals facility designed to strengthen domestic supply, reduce import dependence and serve both Nigerian and international markets.

The practical focus of the tour aligns closely with NORS 2026's stated priorities, which include securing sustainable crude feedstock, improving refinery capacity utilisation, strengthening infrastructure and logistics, and positioning Nigeria as a refining hub.

For industry stakeholders, the visit offers an opportunity to examine how these priorities translate into real-world industrial operations, particularly at a facility operating at significant scale.

According to Dangote Refinery, its current crude distillation capacity is about 700,000 barrels per day, with an expansion pathway to 1.4 million barrels per day. The facility also integrates refining, petrochemicals, storage, marine infrastructure and logistics.

The refinery's scale has made it a major reference point in discussions around Nigeria's refining capacity, petroleum-product supply, energy security and regional exports.

Recent industry reporting has highlighted the refinery's increased production and its growing role in the supply of refined petroleum products, while Dangote Industries has reported that the facility has completed performance tests at levels above its original 650,000-barrel-per-day nameplate capacity.

The facility produces products including PMS, AGO and Jet A-1 to Euro V standards, according to the refinery's official information.

The September 30 tour is also expected to place technology and infrastructure at the centre of conversations about Nigeria's refining future.

Modern refining requires more than crude-processing capacity. Reliable crude supply, storage infrastructure, marine access, transportation networks, power, product evacuation and market connectivity all form part of the wider value chain.

Dangote Refinery's integrated platform includes processing, storage, marine infrastructure, pipelines, truck loading and dedicated power infrastructure, underscoring the interconnected nature of large-scale downstream operations.

For investors, refinery operators, technology providers, traders, regulators and other energy stakeholders, the tour therefore provides an opportunity to connect investment and policy discussions with an operational industrial environment.

NORS 2026, hosted by the Crude Oil Refinery-owners Association of Nigeria (CORAN), brings together refinery owners and operators, policymakers, regulators, investors, financial institutions, technology providers, traders, infrastructure companies and other participants across the petroleum value chain.

The summit's focus on connecting upstream crude supply with downstream demand reflects a central challenge for Nigeria's refining sector: ensuring that growing domestic refining capacity is supported by dependable feedstock, infrastructure, financing and access to markets.

The Dangote Refinery tour provides a physical extension of that conversation, allowing participants to see how refining capacity, logistics and market-oriented infrastructure operate together at scale.

With the country's refining landscape undergoing significant changes, NORS 2026 is positioning its programme around the broader question of how Nigeria can capture greater economic value from its petroleum resources through domestic processing and integrated downstream development.

The summit will take place on September 28–29, 2026, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, followed by the scheduled Dangote Refinery guided tour on September 30, 2026.

The programme effectively extends the NORS 2026 conversation from the conference hall to one of the country's largest refining facilities — bringing together policy, investment, technology, refining operations and downstream market development under the broader objective of “Refining for Value.”

NORS 2026 — REFINING FOR VALUE.

Summit: September 28–29, 2026
Venue: Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos
Guided Refinery Tour: September 30, 2026
Focus: Refining, energy security, investment, technology, infrastructure and downstream value creation
